Introduction |

CCSSCI - On Luck Chinese Nursing Home is the only Chinese-specific high care facility in the State of Victoria. It is part of the services of Chinese Community Social Services Centre Inc. (CCSSCI), the largest non-profit welfare service provider for the Chinese-Victorian community. The vision for On Luck, as advocated by Cr. Fred Chuah, J.P., the CCSSCI President - 'On Luck is a nursing home - set up by the community for the community - that caters for the linguistic, cultural, social, spiritual, dietary and health care needs of Chinese-speaking elderly.' Although located in the Eastern suburb of Donvale, On Luck provides 60 high care places and 24-hours-per-day nursing care for Chinese-speaking elderly from all over Victoria. It offers long-term and respite care, services for couples, palliative care as well as a 15-place dementia-specific unit. We are committed to providing the best quality care and ultra modern facilities for our residents, and peace of mind for their families.

R 44 single rooms and 8 double rooms R Each bedroom has its own en-suite and individually controlled heating/cooling unit R Spacious lounge and dinning areas in each Residents' Building R Purposely-built and well-maintained facilities to ensure residents’ living environment is safe and secure R A specially designed dementia-specific unit with 15 single rooms and easy access to a multi-sensory therapy room, and three beautifully landscaped and fully fenced courtyards R Chinese-speaking staff who are fluent in a wide range of Chinese dialects including Cantonese, Mandarin, Hokkien, Teochew, Hainanese and Hakka R 24-hours-per-day nursing care provided by registered nurses R All staff are suitably qualified/skilled for their jobs R Home-style Chinese hot meals and special dietary needs are catered for R On-site laundry service R An extensive and culturally appropriate Lifestyle and Recreation Program including daily activities, celebration of Chinese and Australian festivals, visits and performance by community groups as well as Chinese satellite TV R Visiting doctors and allied health professionals such as physiotherapist, dietician and podiatrist are Chinese-speaking R Other services including domiciliary dental services, eye examinations, hearing assessments and hair dressing can be arranged when required R Flexible visiting hours R No accommodation bond required R On Luck gives priority of access to seniors with financial hardship

On Luck adopts the Government recommended “5 Steps to Entry to Residential Aged Care” as its admission guidelines. Application for admission into On Luck requires a valid Aged Care Client Report from the Aged Care Assessment Service, a completed application form and an Asset Assessment Report from the Centrelink. Prospective applicants and their families/representatives are encouraged to visit On Luck by joining “The Tour of the Facility” on every third Wednesday of the month. There will be a “Question and Answer” session after each tour. Please call the Nursing Home on (03) 9844 3813 to register for the tour.
